Fall 2021 Opening Session

Attention

We’ve been watching the local COVID-19 data and have adjusted our plans for opening session. All required meetings will be online. Most will be short videos recorded by our colleagues and posted here by Wednesday August 18 . Please view them all before the start of classes on Monday.

Opening Session, Thursday August 19 Friday August 20, Department of Writing and Rhetoric

The Fall 2021 Opening Session will include synchronous and asynchronous components.

On Thursday August 19, we invite you to visit Lamar Hall anytime between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to grab a box lunch from Tallahatchie Gourmet, a DWR gift, comfortable facemasks, and physical copies of the Common Read and CRE Teaching Guide. Glenn, Wendy, Karla, Karen, and Stephen will staff the giveaway tables, located in the lobby of Lamar Hall’s third floor. This is optional, but we would love to see you next Thursday!

On Thursday and Friday, the core faculty will be available in their offices from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you have any questions about the semester, please visit or Zoom with Guy (Writing 101), Wendy (Writing 102), Kate (Speech 102 and 105), Chip (Writing 100 and FASTrack), Angela (Liba 102), or Karla (Writing 250) during these hours. Andrew Davis, Chad Russell, Glenn Schove, Karen Forgette, Joanne Mitchell, and Stephen Monroe will also be available in Lamar Hall during those hours on Thursday and Friday.
